Clinical Pathologist / Clinical Chemist – ARUP Automated Core Laboratory

The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine and ARUP Laboratories is inviting applications from individuals with the skills and interest to develop a strong academic career focused on clinical chemistry and automated clinical laboratory testing.
The successful candidate will have experience in core clinical laboratory testing, clinical assay development and validation, quality control and quality assurance, interpretation of laboratory test results, and consultation with physicians and other health care providers. Experience with total laboratory automation is highly desirable. This position will have clinical and administrative responsibilities in the Chemistry Division of ARUP Laboratories and will be expected to contribute to our research and teaching missions.
ARUP is a comprehensive, high-complexity reference laboratory that serves a diverse clientele. Our clients include over half of the nation’s university teaching hospitals, children’s hospitals, major commercial laboratories, military and government facilities, and numerous community hospitals. As a result, our laboratory receives a wide variety of specimen types and testing requests. We provide an extensive range of testing options, encompassing both traditional techniques and specialized, esoteric testing in the field of laboratory diagnostics.
Applicants require a MD, MD/PhD, or PhD degree. MD candidates should be board certified or eligible in clinical pathology by ABP. PhD candidates should be board certified or eligible in clinical chemistry by ABCC. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
