The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the
Division of Cardiology at the University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health System
(SH) are seeking to recruit a visionary adult Cardiologist to lead the UHN - SH Division of
Cardiology, a Division of the Joint Department of Medicine. The successful candidate
must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Associate or
Full Professor at the University of Toronto, and is eligible to hold the Pfizer Chair in
Cardiology Research. This hospital Division Head position is for a 5-year term, renewable
once following a successful review. Effective start date of appointment is 1 March 2026

The Division of Cardiology aspires within the Department of Medicine at University Health
Network – Sinai Health as a leader across many subspecialty areas. The successful
candidate will be charged with developing a vision for the Division, building on and
enhancing its outstanding academic reputation and delivering the highest quality cutting
edge clinical care. The Division is presently comprised of sixty-five cardiologists in fifteen
subspecialty areas.
The successful applicant should be a visionary leader with sophisticated interpersonal
skills, leadership or equivalent work-related / lived experience and a track record of
achievement in one or more of research, education, creative professional activity, system
design, quality and safety, equity and diversity and/or medical leadership.
Reporting to the Physicians in Chief at UHN and SH, the Division Head will be expected
to support evolution of excellence in equitable, patient-centered care and quality and
safety programs, to work collaboratively with diverse groups and lead with empathy and
compassion in advocating for the advancement of patient care and the Division and
across the Department and Hospitals. The successful candidate is also expected to work
in close alignment with the Program Medical Director, the Senior Director and the Vice
President Clinical of the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (UHN), and the Vice President of the
Urgent and Acute Care Program at SH to support successful and accountable program
operations.
They will support Division recruitment at the hospitals to optimize both clinical care and
the academic agenda. They will advance an academic and clinical strategic action plan
and fundraising program to support all members of their Division, aligned with hospital
strategic plans. They will demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion in all
aspects of their work and will uphold equity as a central component of high-quality patient
care.
They will also work with the University of Toronto Departmental Division Director of
Cardiology, to optimize citywide activity by supporting faculty growth and development
across the continuum, focusing on advancing the academic strategic plans of both the
hospitals and city-wide divisions, assisting with city-wide educational responsibilities of
the Division, and promoting scholarship and research.
The successful candidate must hold a MD (or equivalent) and recognized subspecialty
Cardiology qualifications. They must have or be eligible for licensure in Ontario. Academic
rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications
and experience of the successful candidate. Compensation will be commensurate to rank
and experience and within the range of Academic Physician Leaders at the University of
Toronto teaching hospitals.
