Job DescriptionDirector, Accelerated BSN (ABSN) Program -Scholarship of Practice Faculty
Manning College of Nursing & Health Sciences, University of Massachusetts Boston
Full-time, 12-month, Non-Tenure Track
Position Summary
The Director of the Accelerated BSN (ABSN) Program provides strategic, academic, and operational leadership for a fast‑paced, high-quality prelicensure nursing program. As a Scholarship of Practice (SOP) faculty member, the Director integrates evidence-based teaching, practice, and innovative educational technologies while maintaining active engagement in teaching, advising, and scholarship. The Director ensures program excellence, regulatory compliance, faculty coordination, and strong outcomes through collaborative, data‑informed leadership. The Director serves as a member of the Nursing Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Administration
- Lead planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement for the ABSN program.
- Ensure compliance with Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing, AACN Essentials, and CCNE accreditation standards.
- Oversee curriculum delivery, instructional technologies, and alignment across program levels.
- Collaborate with Level Coordinators, Lab Education Coordinator, and Lead Clinical Coordinator, and Director of the Center for Clinical Education and Research to support cohesive didactic, lab, and clinical experiences.
- Coordinate course scheduling, faculty assignments, onboarding, and mentoring in partnership with department leadership.
- Prepare reports for accreditation and regulatory agencies.
- Support marketing, recruitment, admissions, and progression processes.
- Monitor student performance, retention, NCLEX readiness, and satisfaction, and address academic concerns.
Teaching
- Teach up to four 3‑credit courses annually (or equivalent per departmental priorities).
- Use evidence‑based, student-centered pedagogy and maintain high instructional standards.
- Advise, mentor, and support students throughout the program.
Scholarship of Practice
- Maintain an active scholarly agenda consistent with SOP expectations.
- Advance innovation in teaching, curriculum, and nursing education practice.
Service
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
- Provide leadership for program committees related to admissions, progression, policy, and student success.
- Participate in regional, national, or international professional organizations.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field (PhD, DNP, or equivalent) required; Master's in Nursing required.
- Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of Massachusetts or eligibility to obtain one
- Demonstrated experience in nursing education and academic program administration.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards and regulatory requirements for prelicensure nursing programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity and commitment to equity and inclusive excellence.

UMass Boston expects to pay within an approximate range between $100,000 and $120,000 for this position.
The specific pay for this position will be determined by the University based on the consideration of all relevant factors when and if it decides to extend an offer of employment.
