Description
The University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD) seeks a mission-critical Clinical Instructor in Endodontics to support excellence in specialty education and patient care within our Advanced Dental Education Program. This part-time (.4 FTE) position plays a critical role in maintaining the strength of both our postgraduate and predoctoral endodontic programs.
Primary Responsibilities
Clinical Teaching (90% effort)
Provide direct supervision and instruction in the Postgraduate Endodontics Program.
Mentor residents in diagnosis, treatment planning, case execution, microsurgical techniques, and evidence-based clinical decision-making.
Supervise and instruct predoctoral students in preclinical laboratory exercises and clinical endodontic care.
Ensure delivery of high-quality, ethical, and patient-centered specialty care.
Participate in resident/student assessment, competency evaluations, and calibration activities.
Foster a professional, collaborative, and accountable clinical learning environment.
Didactic Teaching (10% effort)
Contribute to postgraduate seminars, case conferences, literature review sessions, and board-style discussions.
Deliver lectures in predoctoral endodontic didactic courses.
Assist in curriculum development and integration of contemporary evidence-based endodontics.
Support assessment of student and resident learning outcomes.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required:
DDS/DMD or equivalent degree
Completion of an ADA-accredited Endodontics residency program
Board Certified by the American Board of Endodontics or actively working toward board certification
Eligible for dental licensure in the State of Maryland
Preferred:
Demonstrated excellence in clinical endodontics
Experience in postgraduate and predoctoral teaching, including simulation laboratory instruction
Strong mentorship, communication, and organizational skills
Commitment to specialty education
