Description
The Director of Clinical Education - Medical Imaging: Radiography is responsible for the organization, supervision, coordination, and continuous evaluation of the clinical education component of the program. Working in collaboration with the Program Director, the DCE ensures that students are provided with quality clinical experiences that meet the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) standards, align with didactic coursework, and prepare graduates for professional success following the standards of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). This is a 12-month full-time faculty position, with clinical education leadership responsibilities.
Outcome/Essential Function:
The Director of Clinical Education Role: - 40%
Provide academic and administrative leadership for the Clinical Education portion of the Medical Imaging: Radiography program. 10%
Oversee the program’s compliance with the clinical education portion of the JRCERT requirements. 5%
Manage clinical education operations and coordinate with the didactic education as assigned by the program director. 5%
Collaborate with clinical partners to secure, evaluate, and sustain clinical education placements and maintain strong communication with clinical coordinators. 5%
Evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of clinical experiences for the Radiography students. 5%
Advise, recruit, and support students, fostering a culture of academic success and professional growth. 5%
Engage in college service, strategic planning, and community partnerships to advance the mission of the institution. 5%
Faculty Role: -60%
Teach didactic and/or laboratory courses (12 credits a year) within the Radiography program as assigned, and serve as the Instructor of Record for clinical education courses, providing instruction, assessment, and guidance. 40%
Ensure ongoing program effectiveness through clinical curriculum development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement. 5%
Supervise the clinical education portion of the program, including developing labs and securing clinical sites. 2%
Supervise and evaluate clinical program faculty, adjuncts, and staff. 3%
Maintain accurate student records and oversee student advising, progression, and retention initiatives. 2%
Serve as liaison between the institution, accrediting bodies, and clinical affiliates. 2%
Conduct regular clinical education program and curriculum reviews, implementing updates as needed. 4%
Foster inclusivity and belonging in all aspects of the program. 2%
Requirements
Experience and Education Required:
Master’s degree in a healthcare or education field
A terminal academic doctorate in a relevant field will be highly valued
Current ARRT Certification and Registration in Radiography
Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a certified and registered radiographer
Minimum of one year of experience in an administrative, supervisory, or program leadership role.
Experience in curriculum design, program evaluation, and student advising.
College-level teaching experience preferred.
Familiarity with AART/JRCERT standards and accreditation processes.
