The UTMB Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Medicine provides comprehensive patient-centered care for adults through excellence in clinical care, education, and research. With 38 faculty, 6 APPs, and 99 residents, the Division delivers high-quality care across diverse settings, including ambulatory clinics, inpatient services, and community outreach programs. Faculty members actively engage in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, fostering an environment that supports lifelong learning and professional growth. Research and scholarly activity are integral to the Division’s work, with ongoing projects focused on healthcare delivery innovation, chronic disease outcomes, health equity, and evidence-based practice. Through close collaboration with UTMB’s academic and clinical partners, the Division of General Medicine continues to shape the future of internal medicine through education, innovation, and service.
General Internal Medicine - Clinical Faculty Opportunity
The UTMB Division of General Medicine is seeking a full-time inpatient care physician at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice, in the capacity of a hospitalist or a nocturnist. This position emphasizes high-quality, patient-centered clinical care, active participation in teaching, and engagement in the academic mission of the department. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of faculty focused on improving health outcomes and advancing excellence in medical education. Essential responsibilities include comprehensive outpatient care for adult patients, supervision and mentoring of residents and medical students, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and contribution to curriculum development.
Educational Experience and Requirements
- M.D. or D.O degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.
- Valid State of Texas medical license.
- U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S.
- Experience in an Academic medical center or teaching environment as well as involvement in scholarly activities is Strongly Preferred.

Salary will be competitive, commensurate with Academic rank, experience, and qualifications. UTMB offers $0 contribution health insurance plans for individual subscribers and very attractive PTO packages. In addition, UTMB offers an excellent retirement program and relocation allowance.
