The Occupational Health Nurse III (OHN III) is an advanced nurse generalist responsible for the daily clinic administration and delivery of occupational nursing practices in the Lafayette, IN facility clinic where they are required to operate with significant autonomy and individual accountability. Candidates will have previous general healthcare, acute care, or occupational health experience. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated career progression through successively more advanced and complex administrative and clinical positions.
What You Will Do:
- Delivery of comprehensive nursing services related to employee illness and injury.
- Function as an autonomous nurse with the ability to respond independently to the majority of clinical situations.
- Respond to and lead on-site medical emergency response.
- Represent the Corporate Medical Department, its policies and strategy.
- Seek ways to innovate, improve and create best-in-class occupational medical practices.
- Provide case management services for employees on occupational health injuries.
- Act as the centralized repository for medical data and the HIPAA-compliant liaison.
- Receive and critically evaluate medical documentation to determine the need for medical leave and the appropriateness of both medical restrictions and accommodations.
- Consult and provide feedback to employees and providers on evidence bases practice guidelines.
- Assist occupational physicians in evaluating employee readiness for return-to-work.
- Compile and maintain accurate and complete records within appropriate database(s).
- Encourage and facilitate employee engagement in wellness initiatives, providing education and resources that support their overall well-being.
- Assist on site Environmental Health and Safety team in injury investigations, safety walks and other support as needed
What You Will Have:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana.
- On the job-related experience in occupational medicine or acute care.
- Ability to learn and manipulate various online databases.
- Ability to work autonomously with limited direct supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Outstanding clinical skills and judgment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills.
Top candidates will also have
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred
- Experience with a flexible work environment
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to learn and manipulate various on-line databases, such as but not limited to Cority
- Knowledge in various areas of occupational health and Human Resources, including but not limited to, OSHA compliance, ADA, EH&S, HR, ergonomics, health promotion, EMS, and/or education / training
Additional Information
- The location for this position is Lafayette, IN
- This is a 3rd shift position (11PM--7AM Monday through Friday)
- This position may require less than 10% travel

Summary Pay Range:
$39.12 - $58.68
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
