DescriptionThe targeted salary range for this position is $31,868 - $36,648 per year. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
The Office of Innovation and Economic Development is SIU's primary outreach arm to the region, offering business development, workforce innovation, economic development, and community engagement services and activities throughout Southern Illinois. This positions a ssists in the daily operations of the IDPH Community Health Worker grant-funded program.
Examples of Duties
Assist the Office of Workforce Innovation Research Program Coordinator, other staff, and Director in the implementation of the Community Health Worker program and project tasks.
Assists in the development and implementation of the IT platform.
Acts as a liaison to program participants, test sites, and program coordinators.
Provides accurate information about program procedures and solves unique problems on a daily basis.
Must maintain internal and external security of all program information.
Provides program support during the development of Community Health Worker platform.
Assists in the execution of daily activities with the Community Health Worker program, including but not limited to updating program administration schedules, oral and electronic communication with students and project constituents, and disbursement and retrieval of program materials.
Daily duties will include: managing frequent incoming and outgoing phone calls, voicemails, faxes, and emails, responding with accurate program specific information.
Assists program participants using program knowledge and expertise of procedures by answering incoming program questions, providing guidance on next steps for accessing Community Health Worker program materials.
Interviews and assesses needs of program participants or those referred to the program and responds with appropriate customer service action.
Provides support to the program director and other Community Health Worker staff. Backup for opening and closing facilities.
Assists in managing office and program supplies.
Assists in annual inventory verification and related paperwork.
Conducts program research as needed and requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Basic proficiency in conversational Spanish.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

About Civil Service Examination/Testing: The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination/testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. This score will be emailed to the email address noted on your application. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
