Description
The Local Government Commission is hiring!
If you like organizing complex work, keeping things moving behind the scenes, and working with data that matters, this role might be a great fit.
This position sits at the center of our Division’s audit and compliance work—helping ensure local governments across North Carolina meet statutory requirements and that audit processes run smoothly from start to finish.
What you’ll actually do:
- Serve as the main coordination point for audit and compliance processes
- Track and manage incoming audits—reviewing, organizing, and moving them through the workflow
- Monitor compliance and flag issues related to local governments and audit firms
- Maintain and improve key datasets used for statewide reporting and decision-making
- Draft and send official communications to local government officials and CPAs
- Help plan and run two statewide training conferences each year
- Jump in on division projects and keep day-to-day operations running smoothly
What makes someone successful here:
- You’re highly organized and can juggle multiple priorities without dropping details
- You’re comfortable working with data and care about accuracy
- You communicate clearly—both in writing and with people
- You’re adaptable and can shift gears when priorities change
- You like being the person who keeps everything on track
Background we’re looking for:
Experience in project coordination, government operations, auditing/compliance, or administrative support is especially helpful.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys structured work with real public impact—and wants to be part of a team that supports local governments across the state.
This is a hybrid position with the Department of State Treasurer with the option to work remotely 1 day per week. See the full job description and apply at https://nc.wd108.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/NC_Careers/details/Program-Coordinator-II_JR-113011
