Department Overview
This position performs a variety of clerical, clinical support or technical assignments of duties involving many different and unrelated processes, methods and tasks as instructed by clinic leadership. The position includes daily direct patient interactions. Works closely with and reports to clinic leadership and aids with clinical and clerical tasks. Supports the activities of the clinic and works effectively with all clinic staff. Requires working in a confidential atmosphere, handling many complex projects at one time. Knowledge of and familiarity with OHSU facilities, resources, and personnel. This position requires someone who can problem solve and stay highly organized. High level written and verbal communication skills and the ability to stay calm under high pressure conditions and timelines. This position is within the Center for Health and Healing Imaging Department and requires flexibility to be willing to work with multiple imaging modalities daily including General X-ray, Ortho/Spine X-ray, Computed Tomography, MRI, Molecular Imaging, Radiology Nursing, and Ultrasound/Vascular.Function/Duties of Position
Ortho/Spine Imaging Clerical SupportAble to assist and perform all clerical duties as required to maintain clinic flow and operations in the Radiology Ortho/Spine Clinic, including, but not limited to;
- Organize exam requisitions Ortho/Spine Clinic patients presenting for X-ray exams
- Work with technical staff to verify orders are correct.
- Acts as a liaison between Radiology and the Ortho/Spine clinic to ensure correct orders are entered.
- Tracks patient location within the clinic for any add-on Imaging exams
- Ensure exam data in Epic Radiant is entered accurately by the technologist for tracking purposes.
- Use of Microsoft Office - Outlook
- General high-level clerical and project support
- Document legibly, concisely and accurately
- Transports patients to examination rooms with use of wheelchair or gurney or assist patients to walk; assists patients in undressing in both the main CHH imaging department and the Ortho/Spine Clinic.
- Transports patients to other clinic sites in the CHH complex or the main hospital as needed.
- Trained in the use of all Safe Patient Mobilization equipment including Ceiling Lifts and Floor Hoyer Lifts
- Assist Technical staff on all patient transfer needs.
- Maintains and stocks the supply storage areas in the department.
- Orders medical supplies for the department through the logistics catalog and special orders through the purchasing department.
- Tracks contrast needs in the department for pharmaceutical orders.
- Enter Pharmaceutical orders in EPIC or via Fax
- Daily stocking of linen and supplies for all modalities in the CHH Imaging department
- Technical support (Epic, office equipment, etc.)
- Attends staff meetings/huddles
- Inventory management of all supplies for CHH imaging
- Check expiration dates for medications/supplies
- Turn over exam rooms/cleaning/stocking
- Maintains knowledge of life safety, patient safety, fire and electrical safety and disaster plan
- Sentact duties/compliance
- Monitors patient flow
- Updates patient on delays
- Provides excellent customer service
- Addresses in-the-moment patient needs as directed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients, family, and clinical personnel
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, AND
- One year of experience with high volume contact with the public; OR
- 6 months of medical office experience, with high volume contact with patients
- BLS/CPR within six weeks of hire and then maintained without interruption.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Excellent telephone communication skills.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience working with an electronic medical record system
