Company History
Camp Sewataro was founded in 1960, beginning as a small “camp for cousins” on land in Sudbury developed by Franklin Secatore, an Italian immigrant who envisioned the property as a place for family, nature, and community.
Over time, the camp grew beyond the family into a beloved day camp known for its deep spirit, traditions, and outdoor setting. Alba Taylor, Franklin’s daughter, served as Sewataro’s longtime director and helped shape the high standards and values that continue to guide camp today.
After her passing in 2010, her children carried on her legacy until 2019, when the Town of Sudbury purchased the property to preserve Sewataro for future generations and partnered with camp professional Scott Brody to continue its operation.
Today, Camp Sewataro remains rooted in its original mission: creating a safe, joyful, and inclusive place where young people come together outdoors to discover, play, and grow.
Benefits
Camp Sewataro offers a generous staff child benefit, including reduced camper rates and complimentary before- and after-camp care to support working families.
