The University of Iowa’s College of Dentistry is conducting a search for a full-time clinical or tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Preventive & Community Dentistry.
Major responsibilities include:
Didactic instruction and clinical supervision in the Preventive clinic, Geriatrics & Special Needs clinics, and Geriatric Mobile Unit;
Providing/teaching continuing education courses in Preventive and/or Geriatrics & Special Needs dentistry;
Participation in the departmental intramural private practice; and
Scholarship to support and advance the specialty.
Tenure-track applicants must also:
Participate in research activities culminating in peer-reviewed publications and/or extramural grant support, etc.
The position is available December 31, 2026; screening begins immediately.

Requirements
Applicants must have:
Licensed to practice dentistry in the in the State of Iowa or eligible for Faculty Permit issued by the Iowa Dental Board;
DDS/DMD (or equivalent);
Successful completion of a one-year advanced education program in Geriatrics and Special Needs Dentistry; and
Extensive, relevant experience providing comprehensive dental care to frail, compromised, institutionalized, underserved, or special needs adult patients.
Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.
Desirable qualifications:
Clinical experience teaching Preventive and/or Geriatrics and Special Needs Dentistry in an academic environment;
Experience implementing curriculum and/or teaching innovations;
Established record of research in Dental Public Health, Preventive or Geriatrics and Special Needs Dentistry and/or record of success acquiring extramural grant support;
Experience providing didactic instruction and mentoring of dental public health Masters and PhD students; and
Certificate or Master’s in Dental Public Health, or relevant discipline.
