The University of Iowa Health Care - Medical Center Downtown, is seeking a full-time Clinical Pharmacist, to join our team. The pharmacist in this position carries out the pharmacy practice responsibilities for the Department of Pharmaceutical Care at the Medical Center Downtown.
Clinical pharmacists at UIHC are involved in all aspects of patient care including, but not limited to, therapeutic drug monitoring, medication reconciliation, medication education, and precepting pharmacy learners. This role will support the highest level of safe and effective patient care via thorough clinical review and verification of medication orders. In addition, all members of the pharmacy team collaborate daily with members of the interdisciplinary team, including licensed independent practitioners, medical students and residents, nurses, and social workers, and care coordinators.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
- PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) degree or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
- Current licensure by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners is required. Includes those eligible for obtaining this licensure.
- One (1) year of applicable pharmacy experience is required. Years of applicable experience include the time spent completing an ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Job related experience with and/or commitment to service excellence
- Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in hospital pharmacy setting is highly desired
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or eligibility for completing BLS certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or eligibility for completing ACLS certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or eligibility for completing PALS certification
- Satisfactory completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency in pharmacy
- Satisfactory completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency in a specific field
- Clinical experience in providing pharmaceutical care to patients in emergency department or critical care areas
- Board certification in Pharmacotherapy or another specialized field
