Description
The Occupational Health and Safety Professional is crucial in establishing and sustaining a safe and healthy
workplace while promoting a robust safety culture within the organization. This role encompasses
developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, educating
employees on safety protocols, investigating workplace incidents, and ensuring regulatory compliance. By
prioritizing employee well-being and ensuring HRSD adheres to safety regulations, the Occupational
Health and Safety Professional significantly reduces risks and fosters a safe and secure work environment.
Requirements
Education Required:
Bachelors’ degree in an appropriate field such as Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene,
or related fields
Experience Required:
4 years of progressively responsible experience with administration and support of robust safety
programs, OSHA, NFPA, DOT regulations, and Virginia Asbestos regulations or equivalent combination
of education and experience
Experience in industrial hygiene sampling, respirator fit testing, and audiometric testing
Desired:
Experience in operating overhead cranes, mobile elevated work platforms, truck cranes, and heavy
equipment such as a forklift, telehandler and skid steer
Familiarity with water/wastewater industry and processes
