The McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics (MSBMI) at UTHealth Houston is recruiting for a full-time faculty position in health informatics at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level on the non-tenure track. The successful applicant will join a dynamic faculty at MSBMI who are active in research, education, and applying informatics to clinical practice.
UTHealth Houston is part of the world-renowned Texas Medical Center (TMC) in metropolitan Houston, Texas, the fourth largest city in the United States. MSBMI offers PhD and Master’s degrees, along with certificate programs in biomedical and health informatics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and teach graduate-level courses and participate in mentoring graduate students in their academic development.

Participate in departmental and university-wide committees to support curriculum development, student success initiatives, and strategic planning efforts.

Provide service at the national and international levels.

Provide stakeholder and community engagement, as well as growth strategies for MSBMI educational and programs, such as the Center for Behavioral Emergency and Addiction Research (C-Bear).

Participate in collaborative project work with other faculty in the school and across UTHealth Houston and the Texas Medical Center.
APPOINTMENTS/BENEFITS:
This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment on the non-tenure track, renewable on a yearly basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctoral degree in clinical science, biomedical informatics, nursing, computer science, or related disciplines

Substantial experience working in an informatics capacity in a health care organization, as well as a strong track record of teaching at the graduate level, extramural funding, and published research, is required for applicants at the Associate or Full Professor level.

Substantial experience working in an informatics capacity in a health care organization is required for applicants at the Assistant Professor level
PREFERRED:
-
Demonstrated teaching experience, along with experience mentoring junior staff.

Astrong organizational performance improvement background utilizing informatics.

Work in Six Sigma, Lean, Quality, Project Management, or other performance disciplines
SALARY:
Competitive and dependent upon qualifications and experience.
