Job Summary
The Program Coordinator supports the administrative, operational, financial, research, and outreach activities of Morgan State University's Center for Urban and Coastal Climate Science Research (CUCCSR). This position plays a key role in coordinating research, education, workforce development, community engagement, and grant-funded initiatives. The Program Coordinator works closely with faculty investigators, students, university departments, community partners, government agencies, and funding organizations to facilitate the successful implementation of center activities and achievement of program objectives.
Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include coordinating daily program operations; supporting research and externally funded projects;
- Assisting with proposal development, grant administration, and compliance requirements; monitoring project timelines, milestones, budgets, and reporting deadlines; processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate records;
- Organizing meetings, workshops, conferences, and community engagement events; developing communication materials and outreach activities;
- Maintaining databases and program documentation;
- Preparing reports for university leadership and funding agencies; and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and sponsor regulations.
Requested Minimum Qualifications
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
Experience:
Two years of professional administrative work experience is required.
Other Preferences for Consideration
Preferences:
- A Master's Degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Experience working in a higher education office and a general understanding of program administration is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, project management, and interpersonal skills;
- experience working in higher education, research, outreach, or grant-funded environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders and communities.
- Strong computer, good interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to initiate and follow-through with work responsibilities to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong ability to successfully engage respectfully with persons from diverse cultures
